About Us

  • Punch & Judy Playgroup offers high quality childcare for pre-school children from the age of 2 years to 4 years old.
  • Punch & Judy Playgroup is a non-profit making charity with a voluntary management committee.
  • Our enthusiastic staff work hard to ensure every child reaches their full potential in a happy, safe and stimulating learning environment.
  • We encourage the children to develop by following the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Information for parents regarding the EYFS can be found at www.foundationyears.org.uk
  • We are lucky enough to be able to offer a free flow inside/outside play area for most months of the year.

Our Team

We are a warm and friendly team who are passionate about the work we do and how we do it. We believe in a child-centred approach to learning, which means that we are always looking for new ways to ensure children are having fun and enjoying their experience. All of our staff members carry out this philosophy by working closely with parents and guardians during their children’s early years of learning.

We also have a Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo) who is able to provided additional and bespoke support to children ( and their caregivers / parents) with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

We support every child and work alongside parents on a personal level to help prepare children for their next journey whether that be Primary school or Home education.

The Key Person Approach

Valuing Individuality

The Key Person works closely with parents in order to provide children with quality care
and appropriate learning experiences.

Key People are available for informal chats before or after sessions. At Punch &
Judy Playgroup key groupings reflect family groups – they consist of mixed ages to
encourage social development. You will be introduced to your Key Person on admission.

Parents meetings take place in November and March. A transition meeting is arranged
in July for families moving to main stream school.

The Key Person is also responsible for completing a two-year progress check when
our children are between 24-36 months (2-3 years).

  • The key person offers love, cuddles and security to the children in their care.
  • They are a sympathetic ear when parents and carers need to chat, always respecting confidentiality.
  • They listen to the children’s voices, are always patient and kind and very importantly for the children, fun to be with!

As part of our Playgroup policy ensuring that the individual needs of every child are met,
we have a named person responsible for co-ordinating any additional needs that may
be identified.

Our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator is Becs Dwyer.

Our Safeguarding Co-ordinator is Alanna Noonan.
